Are Australian Cobberdogs Hypoallergenic?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions and a significant reason for buying an Australian Cobberdog. Although no dog can be classified as completely hypoallergenic, because the do shed a little and everyone has different sensitivities, Australian Cobberdogs have been found to not cause a reaction in most allergy sufferers.

This is great news for people allergic to dogs!

A little history for you:

Cobberdogs are derived from Labradodles but are now a breed in their own right, with their own DNA profile. However, the Cobberdog has the same non-shedding coat as a Labradoodle. The Labradoodle was first bred by Wally Conron as a non shedding guide dog, however, the poodle was deemed unsuitable as an assistance dog. Cobberdogs, however, have been bred specifically for assistance and therapy work, being far removed from the labrador/ poodle cross. They have the perfect temperament and their coat has been standardised. For further information regarding Wally Conron’s journey, click here.

If you are still unsure if you would have an allergic reaction, we are happy to meet you so you can have a cuddle with one of our dogs. You will soon find out they will not affect your allergy.
