How We Raise Our Puppies

Our Australian Cobberdog puppies are raised with our family in NSW. They play alongside their litter mates, our other dogs, our children and any visitors we may have. We expose our puppies to the sights, sounds and smells of our family. We socialise and personality test them so your puppy is perfect for you.

Our puppies whelp in a bed with underfloor heating. We situate them close to our family living space so they adjust to the sounds and movement of our household. The puppies have access to a small run when they are ready to start toileting and exercising their new legs.

Our puppies mentally and physically stimulated for long term health. They are handled gently from 3 days old which increases their rate of development and confidence.

Personality Testing

We personality test all puppies to match each to their ideal owners. Puppy personality testing started in the 1960s to ensure that dogs were trainable and suitable for roles in the service industry or police force (for example). Puppy personality testing improves compatibility between owners and the puppy, gives new owners an insight into their new puppy, what to expect and how to get the best out of their new puppy.

There are six canine personality types:

  • Independent/ aloof
  • Shy/ timid
  • Gentle cooperative
  • Sociable/ friendly
  • Bold/ confident
  • Dominant/ aggressive

They may be a combination of two of these traits. For further information, click here.

We work with your transport company for your Australian Cobberdog from NSW,  which is at your cost.

Going to their new owners is a stressful time whether they live across the road or across the country.  To lessen the impact we send them off with an item bearing the smells of their old home and litter mates.  I don’t believe interstate travel adds a lot to the stress, given that puppies sleep 18 hours a day at that age, and are likely to sleep most of the way.
